Excuse me

Over thirty-five years I have gone through the front door of her business on countless occasions and I have always brought something with me (film, paper, chemicals ...). I continue coming to her shop from time to time (not as often as I would like) although no longer fits so handy, now it is not a comfortable distance for me after my family move.

She always found something extraordinary for me searching through their boxes, drawers or cabinets, she had no problem picking up the telephone in such cases where contacting the relevant supplieres I needed to. For her, her shop was just a business, but her shop she with me was a moment of "PHOTOGRAPHY" in capital letters, because it was something more than a simple business, we became friends with the same "fortune". A growing confidence, full of facilities, that has allowed me to continue growing in this passion.

Yesterday I walked through her door again to purchase 50 Print File Slide Preservers, that surely she would find for me somewere to brighten my day, but instead another person was there with watery eyes ...

She has decided to turn off her light, and hide in the shadows forever. I would have liked to show her this negative, to say her goodbye. And I do so now, this flower is my farewell to you Loly (23/08/16)

Please let this thread to pay tribute to a woman who has defended and struggled in her business (and her passion) all her life. Perhaps many of you, away from Internet or shops-on-line, also have a nearby special place or a wonderful memory that years ago, with empty pockets, filled your eyes with happiness, ... or perhaps someone near ready to make of your Photography a lifetime ???

nice tribute to a special memory and a treasure of a person... i don't see how the internet/on-line world can compete with such experiences... i think it's incumbent upon us to remember them as you have and create them elsewhere in the world of photography! thanks

Yes, sorry to hear that you've lost a friend and a soulmate of sorts. It's a rare experience for many of us to have a more-than-passing relationship with, well, anyone, regardless of what they do, so I appreciate what you've lost. Hang in there...

You know the father who ran lens and repro in nyc did the same for me with getting me started with a 5x7 camera. ..after helping me get some film holders.. (leaky wooden ones)
And a lens...he gave me a case for the camera
Quote "it's heavy but you'll always have a place to sit"...

Camera, lens, holders, case ... and a good advise, that's more than enough to get started for the rest of your life! Glad to hear it, I like that kind of stories. Thanks

Our passion for photography is shared by many, but few really touch us with their lives. You were both lucky to have added to the life of each other.
Your tribute LAG, is a beautiful one. Perhaps you will make a print for her memory as well.
Journey well
