Does anyone have one of these? I am trying to replicate one out of MDF and I need to know the scale (distances between markings) of the three different rulers.

I assume the top ruler is a 1:1 ratio (actual inches) and then the others are some smaller index. I seem to remember that it automatically weights the bottom of the matboard but I could be wrong.

So, basically, if you could measure and say the top scale is in whole inches, the second scale is in 1/2" increments, and the third is 3/8" or whatever.

I've attached the original instructions as a PDF.

Thanks for the help.

G'day Peter,

Firstly I do hope that you and yours are ok in the hurricane. My girlfriend's family are all from Brunswick and we are following its course here in Australia.

I too built one and I scoured the net to find what you are looking for but no luck. So I took the B & H PhotoVideo website picture of it and some others that I found and "measured" the scales in Photoshop and just to be sure printed the pictures 1:1 and then measured the printout to confirm that the Photoshop measurements were correct. They were. I'll attach the images of the Print Positioner that I used. Also you ARE correct that it gives you an "optical centre" which has a bottom heavy matte, to make a more pleasing presentation. Also I made mine metric and after using it quite a bit I can say here that I am very very pleased with the results. I bought a second hand acrylic T-square and used an adhesive store bought ruler-tape and hand scribed the second smaller scale to the vertical part of the Positioner.

Hope this helps you build one for yourself!

Cheers for now,
Sam

I have one;
The scale marked 1 - 12 in large numbers are actual inches with 1/4 inch marks
The smaller 1-12 scale has major divisions at 7/16 inches, the small divisions are 3/32 apart
On the top leg the major divisions are 1 inch with 1/4 inch minor divisions.
I hope that helps.
