Anyone using Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed for PtPd?

Does it require any special treatment before coating?

How does it clear compared to other papers you've used?

Thank you,

Neal,

It requires an Oxalic acid (or other acid) presoak to remove the buffers. Some people use 2% solution at about 5 minutes. I soak until the paper stops fizzing, normally around 15 minutes.

When it is properly treated, it clears fairly well. If you have clearing problems, the paper probably needs more of a dip or a higher concentration of acid.

I also use this paper...

I pre-soak it in 2% Oxalic acid for 15 to 30 minutes. I tried a print without the pre-soak and ended up with an greatly underexposed muddy-looking print (gave it the same exposure with the same neg I did on the same paper with the pre-soak.

Seems to clear just fine. First bath Citric acid, next two bath are a combo of Kodak HCA and EDTA. Rinsed in water between each bath. Other clearing baths probably work well, too.

I use the bright white, use pt/pd, develop in room temp Potassium oxalate and end up with a warm image that is pleasently not too warm)...an easy to handle paper.

Just out of interest, to the fabriano users: do you add a rinse in pure water after neutralizing, or do you dry the paper with the acid inside? (I rinse.)

Good question, having just started using this paper...I have not rinsed so far.
