Ok, here is the problem.

When the film ends , the camera rewinds it but leaves no film lead outside the cassette. The previous F90X I owned didn't do that. There was always some film left.

Anyone knows if that can be fixed ?

Yes and no.
Yes, it can be fixed if you have access to the software and cables needed.
Many years ago, Nikon Service could change the default leader in on rewind for the F801 and F90 series.
I'm not sure the current software on sale by a third party can do that.
Your previous F90X was modified by the previous owner.

You can likely use the same trick I use with the F80. Pop the film door open about a half second after the frame counter hits zero. You'll need to close the door after removing the film and manually trigger a rewind to reset the camera for the next roll.

The N90s/F90x "Leader Out" modification/reprogramming was actually one that could only be done by Nikon Service. Many other settings could be changed using various 1990s-era software and cables, but not "leader out". Might be worth a phone call to your nearest Nikon center to see if they can still do the reprogram.

I have one camera marked F90X and two marked N90S. If I want to use more than one kind of film I would rather just bring two bodies (even though they are not light) than remember how many frames I have to go back to if I am reloading a partially shot roll. These nice cameras sell for very little now.
