Eypiece grooves & threads

Which common camera families share the same grooves or thread connection?
Thus one can exchange cups and attachments between these families.

I guess the connection as such would not be the only issue, but the size of the eypiece exit lens can be of effect too.

Off the top of my head, Miranda and until T4 Konica, I don't recall if the Nikon, F, 2, and 3 used the same thread mount.

I found that eyepieces were interchangeable between a Nikon F2, a Voigtlander R2a and a Fuji GS645S. (I think 12mm ⌀, but no idea of the pitch)

The OM 1 and OM 2 series will take a Nikon eyepiece diopter model DK20C to correct for eyeglass wearers. There are charts available that, if I remember correctly, have you adjust the power you order, due to "adjustment" that Nikon makes for the correction in the camera. One caveat -- you need to slide the eyepiece diopter up a little to open the camera to load. There's also a Nikon fitting that lets you screw in round diopters which also mates with the above OMs.

Those are 19mm screw mount (fits also the FUJI GA + GW series).

Pentax K mount cameras and the Olympus OM family seem to share the same slots for right-angle finders, at least in my experience. Note that the Pentax screw mount cameras don't share the right-angle finder with the K mount series. Wonder why??

Good to know! Since K mount Pentaxes can use the Olympus RF finder, and vice-versa, sounds like the Nikon diopter would work on my K mounts, although my LX and K 10 and K 5 have their own diopter adjustments.

Nikon F2, F3, and Fuji X-pro all share the same diopters. I have heard that some of the newer Nikon film cameras don't.

Very good question, I'd like to know too.
I'm looking for an eyepiece for a Chinon CM-3,external led's, rectangular slot fit and cannot find one. If someone knows what will fit that would be great.

For Nikon: F3, F4, F5, F6, D-700, D-800 - all have same thread and all accepts same eyepiece (from personal experience).
Suspect D3, D4 also.

When I bought a Contax RTS and RTSII bodies, I was hoping the Nikon 19mm diopter (F2, F3, FE/FM, etc) would fit the round Contax diopter/eyecup adapter. The Contax is slightly bigger, just enough that the threads on the Nikon diopter won't engage. A solution I found was to apply a bead of Plasti Dip to the threads of the Contax adapter, just enough to provide a secure seat for the Nikon diopter. A few drops of pliobond and the diopter has kept in place for 6 mos (so far).

Contax RTS diopters are tough to find, much less finding the specific power needed.

Canon T/EOS cups fit the A models if some milling is done due to the two protruding screwheads on the A-top. Also lifting the advance lever out of its rest position is a bit less easy, because you will have to grip it from above.

My Pentax 645n uses an angle finder which SCREWS into the eyepiece! Pretty fine pitch thread, too. A little cross threading and its unusable. What was Pentax thinking?? Any other camera have a similar foolish angle finder attachment??

Those should be round threaded 19mm in diameter - there are Nikon eyepieces/diopters with 22mm in diameter too.

The rectangular Nikon diopter I use on my Olympus OM, also fits my Bessa R2C.

All Canon F1s ( Old F1, F1n and New F1) use the same metal eyepiece rings, rubber coverings, and eyesight correction lenses.

Good point!
As when referring to Canon I only meant the rectangular eyepieces with the vertical grooves.
