Hi all,

A couple months ago I pulled the trigger on the Shen Hao SH-TFC617-A camera. I love it.

However, I was hoping that I could find a way to get a 2nd 6x17 film back for it.....say to keep B&W film in one of them and color in the 2nd one.

And, if for nothing else....to have a 2nd one for safety, in case the first one gets damaged, etc.

I've not been able to find anything out there on the web, but was hoping possibly someone out there might have a lead on this....

I went ahead and got mine on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Shen-Hao-SH-TFC617-Folding-Panorama/dp/B07ZM5S2DF

I saw slightly better deals out there, but they were on eBay and Alibaba...and well, I felt I had a bit more safety ordering something this $$ off Amazon.

Anyway...I"m searching for a 2nd 120 film back for this thing and hoping someone might have some suggestions.

Thank you in advance,

Cayenne

Really nice camera. Lucky you.

Thank you!!

I didn't get it till JUST as the COVID things was hitting and locking things down.....so, I've sadly had precious little time to scout out things to shoot with it!!

I live, it seems, it about the ONLY area of the New Orleans area that is barren of anything interesting to shoot for the most part!?!? At least in my immediate neighborhood.

I did go last weekend, about 6am when it was only 75F and humid...before it really got hot, to take my 4 shots on a roll...at a new little area with a boardwalk they build on the edge of Lake Pontchartrain....I got a shot of the sign saying "watch for alligators", some of the swamp land vegetation and then the boardwalk as leaning lines, and then you see the causeway bridge in the background going across the lake.

Hoping it turns out....the place I use to take my 120 film for development had pretty much closed, but I called and is only open on Tues and Thurs now.

I'm strongly contemplating buying a Patterson tank and come chemicals and trying my own B&W development....I'd posted and gotten good suggestions on the forum here for that awhile back.

I shot with Ilford Delta 400 that last time....should be interesting to see what came out of it.
I"m still trying to get used to composing on this with ground glass, and my bad eyesight....even with the cover, hard for me to see exactly everything on the screen, especially at the edges.

But it's fun to learn and what few results I"ve had, seem spectacular to me.

Thanks!!

BTW, I've seen those backs on Ebay. Apparently you can get them at a good discount directly from China.

I'll check.
Most of the ones I"d seen eBay, and most commonly are the Shen Hao 6x17 backs that you add to an existing 4x5 camera.....not the backs that came with the dedicated 6x17 like I have.

For instance this one is for the dedicated camera:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0899PP7LT

Vs this one that is to use to adapt a 4x5 camera for 6x17:

https://www.amazon.com/Shen-Hao-Panorama-Camera-Tachihara/dp/B079QCGSYC

The latter one won't work.....

Whew...this camera is $$ to deal with, but still so far...worth it to me as that it is such a unique perspective.....really a blast so far.
