I made a post some time back about extension rings - yet another thing I haven't yet got around to sorting - but am looking to use them for something I want to work on very soon. I'm looking for Mamiya RZ rings (established RB rings won't function on the RZ) probably second-hand.

I'd value comments from anyone with experience with these - whether it's sensible to get one, or both, how useful/successful you found them in particular.

Thanks!

edit- am looking to use them with the 110mm lens

How much extension do you need? Rings for the RZ aren't any different then any other camera. Just empty tubes.

Good point - I'm asking 'how much' and the answer is 'how much do you need...'

I'm not certain how much at present - I suppose I was hoping to clarify quite how close in the 2 different tubes available would get me, (either alone or in combination) with that particular lens.....

Any experience people have had with/opinions on the results with would be useful.....

Thanks a lot Nick, helpful info.

Any subjective views of own results from anyone???

Without getting into too big a discussion about how results compare with a for-purpose macro lens (not a possibility at present) I was interested in hearing peoples' views on their own results from a particular combo using the 110 lens.

I have experience of using extension tubes with 35mm so understand some of the drawbacks/benefits of using them.

Catem,
I use ext tubes on my RB all the time, I consider them a neccesity. It's rare when I take the RB out in the field that at the very least, a #1 ext tube isn't packed, I use the 180 with the #1 tube to give me a more natural perspective as well as more working distance.

Does a RZ have a focal plane shutter?

A RB's extension tubes are NOT just empty rings. Think about it. I suspect a RZ's are the same, only electrical.
