Oh sorry, TFT=thin film transistor. It is the word which is commonly used in Germany for LCD monitors. Did not expected that it is unknown in the US.

In some cases, there is a odd dynamic to these warranties. Some retailers base the warranty cost on the cost of the item. So less expensive brands - arguably with less quality and reliability than the better, more expensive brands - may have a less expensive warranty. Also, as noted earlier, some warranties cover components that can be expected to wear out (lcd TV lamps, laptop batteries). Depending on the length of warranty and your usage, it may cover all or part of the warranty cost.
