Hey everybody, I'm looking for any Glaswegians (or those familiar with Glasgow!) to help me out finding a few things.

In about 12-18 months I'm moving to Glasgow for about 8 months on a photo (and soul!) searching expedition. I'm applying for a grant as well to help me out with this, so they need a good approximate budget.

I'm needing information on these things:
1. Film (mostly 120/220 but also 135) prices and where are the best places to get it?
2. Lab processing for colour and b/w. Professional places are what I'm looking for so I know my film will be handled right. Prices/locations/etc.
3. Darkroom rental. I know there's street level photoworks, but anybody with experience with them, or any other darkroom rental places is fully welcomed.
4. Any other fun facts or tips for fun photo taking is fully welcomed!

Thanks everybody!

Film-I tend to order mine from Silverprint/Retro/Speed Graphic, though IIRC Glasgow has both a Jessops and a Calumet. I don't know about labs but you could try googling?
Places to visit-lots of great locations to visit, eg Arran, the west highlands, southern uplands, pentland hills, trossachs etc.I'm probably a bit biased, but Scotland has some of the best landscapes anywhere!

Drop a PM to Carl Radford. He is Glasgow based and might be able to provide some local info

Thanks guys!

Black dog - Oh, you should see my list of places "to go" when I finally get there! Unfortunately I just can't afford to see them all, even with the grant.

Philldresser - thanks a bunch, I'll definitely shoot off a PM .

Loxley Colour are great. I use them mail order. Top notch service and if you live in Glasgow they collect from you and bring the prints backs.

I lived in Glasgow for seven years, so I'll drop a longer note soon with some cool places to see and visit if you are interested. Scotland is reasonably small and you can access most of the country quite quickly from Glasgow.

The city itself is good -- good bar scene, music clubs, museums, galleries, etc. I'd be careful where you live, though. South of the river cuts you off from everywhere interesting. The west end is generally the nicest area to live, in my experience.

Thanks mcgrattan!

I'd love to hear what places you have under your sleeve . I've been in contact with another fellow from Glasgow (not a photographer though, so he has no knowledge of that side of things) and he's been letting me know where I want to avoid living .
