So, I have this densitometer. It was advertised as a x-rite 301, which it looks like, but it is labeled as an extek 4004. X-rite denies any knowledge of it. There is a company in China and I sent emails about it.
How does it work?
All the lights work. The buttons change numbers. I actually got it to read 0.000 a couple times. But it just gives different numbers all over the place.
Ughh.
Does any one use one of these?

There is an x-rite label and serial number on it, so I called them again. They will fix it. They told me how to null it and that didn't work so it has to be fixed. It is an X-rite, I told them about the extek name but the label on the back with x-rite 301 rules.
Do any of you x-rite 301 owners have your units serviced at all?

Yup, I have two 301's, one I use and a spare one! Both very late serial #'s. L

I have an Xrite 810 that's rebranded as Noritsu. But the only way to tell if it works is to use a Stouffer transmission step wedge with known densities.

They now tell me that it cannot be fixed. They lied to me. I was told that it was going to be rebuilt. Avoid them.

I am not clear whom to avoid. Is it the Extek company which is in China or X-rite and which promised the rebuild?

Thanks
