Exposure scale values in Plotter

As I understand Phil Davis' book a normal grade 2 on variable contrast paper has an exposure scale value of 1.05.

Do some VC papers have a wider ES than other VC papers? Specifically I am looking at MGIV. If I understand the results in the plotter program correctly, MGIV with ilford filter #2 has an ES of 1.24. Does this soud right? If I use this in the calculation for my developing time I get almost a two minute increase. Ilford's filter #3 has an ES of 1.06 which is much closer to the suggested 1.05.

So, for those of you that have more experience here, does MGIV have a wider range than the "typical" VC paper?

Although I have not used VC papers in years, this sounds about correct. If anything Phil Davis's results show a lower contrast than what you obtained. If you have the plotter, there should be a file with curves for many papers, one of them is Ilford Multigarde FB. If you dont have them, go to www.btzs.org and ask Phil for them, he will be glad to send them to you.
