Expired kodafix. Still good?

I have a brand new bottle of kodafix that expired this month. Is it still any good?

A fixer will let you know when it goes bad. It will develop a bad smell and begin to sulfurize, that is throw down a precipitate of sulfur. You can always do a clip test to see how fast the fixer will clear a bit of film.

Well, my problem is that I got the bottle from my local Henry's and they gave me an expired bottle along with expired polymax . They don't have the chems normally in stock so I had to wait a week. If I do end up returning it, their whole warehouse might have all expired chems in it so it may turn into a whole month wait .

I have a bottle of Kodafix that expired in 12/2013 and it clears film in little over a minute. Have had no problems with it but I keep an eye on it testing every other roll.

What Gerald Koch said: If the fixer is still clear with no particles floating around in it and it has a slightly acidic smell, but no smell of "rotten eggs," then mix up a batch and do a clip test. If it clears film in 45 seconds or less, it's still just fine; use as normal.

Expiration dates are based on a worst-case scenario of storage and handling. They should really read, "Good until at least...". Fixer that "expired" this month is most likely still good as new. It's not Mission Impossible: "This fixer will self-destruct in five seconds."
