Hi all,

Have you done RPX 25 in real Rodinal, not the recent similars?

If so, I'd be interested in your observations / opinions.

TIA

I have tested RPX 25 in original Agfa Rodinal (purchased just before Agfa went under), HC-110 and Xtol. The results were grainer than I expected for such a slow film speed in Rodinal 1:64. I'm generally not a fan of Xtol (I prefer the gradation/ tonality I get form Rodinal and even HC-110) but was surprised by how nice RPX 25 looks in Xtol 1:1. Grain was far less noticeable vs Rodinal and the gradation/ tonality of the RPX25/Xtol combo looks beautiful imo. I also picked up some film speed vs Rodinal.

Thanks, Gibran. Appreciate the info.

Personally I think Retro 80s is a much better film than RPX25.

I like it around 50-64, of course you can expose at 25 and adjust developing. It's about as sharp as T-Max but finer grained, much finer than RPX25. That'd be my recommendation tbh. It maintains its fine grain in Rodinal as well.
