Anyone using the Bowhaus RIP software for the Epson 3800?
It is currently available only for Mac.
It is not cheap, but cheaper than other RIP's on the market.
Do you have any positive experience with it? Is it worth it?
I've used the Bowhaus RIP, but for a 7500, not a 3800. I liked it a lot -- when I ran a 4-ink (+ toner) system. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to handle my current 6-ink setup.
I had some chats with Bowhaus, and was disappointed to find that they just weren't very interested in maintaining the software, nor building any sort of community. They seem to have some plans for the system (although for Canon rather than Epson printers), but they mostly seem to use it as an in-house printing system that they'll accept money for if you don't ask too many questions.
That didn't appeal to me too much, so I've moved onto QuadtoneRIP. QTR is definitely clunkier, but works well and has at least a semblance of support and community.
Hope this helps out a bit.
