I am going to be in Manhattan next week (July 28-31). Does anyone know of any photography exhibits worth seeing? I am interested in just about anything and particularly interested in seeing prints made with older processes such as salt, platinum, van dyke etc.

https://photographmag.com/exhibitions is a great resource, or at least a starting point. Filter for the Manhattan locations and there you go. Not comprehensive, but close. I believe they only list advertisers so they are heavy on commercial galleries that I don't usually frequent. For starters, I think the Met Museum and MoMA are not on there, and there are usually one or two photo exhibits of varying quality and size at both at all times.

I'll be on the island this week and find the offerings a little light, at least in relation to my interests and taste. ICP is transitioning to a new space so that reliable venue is out.

Leica Gallery is a great venue, can't speak to the current show.

Peruse some of the other museum websites, large and small, and you might find something you like, such as at the NY Historical Society or maybe the fancy new Whitney, but, yeah, that kind of searching is hit or miss.

Do you like Emmitt Gowin? http://themorgan.org is hosting a show of his work, and the web site lists the lead image as "Gold toned salt print." So there you go (most of his are conventional gelatin silver prints, but the site shows other antique processes... and digital). Sort of a unique show from what I gather, he was asked to pair his photos with art from their collection and he appears to have spent some time in making great selections leading to fascinating combinations. A little steep on the admission price for the size of the attraction but the place is a wonder.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/24/arts/design/museum-gallery-listings-for-july-24-30.html?_r=0 doesn't try to be comprehensive but gives good leads, like the aforementioned NYHS:
and their ‘Freedom Journey 1965: Photographs of the Selma to Montgomery March by Stephen Somerstein’. The same site raves about the Gowin show.

The Times also has its http://www.nytimes.com/events

Hope this helps. It did for me!

Here's the NYTimes again on Gowin, this one the full review. Disclosure... haven't read it all yet, but they really like it.

PS - I saw him at a lecture in PHL not long ago and it was a great experience. He is a humble and thoughtful person and it shows in his work. From seeing him speak, I can believe this in the review's walkoff line, regarding his comments in the show's catalog: "In many ways, what he has to say is as moving as his extraordinary show."
