As you know we had a wide-area earthquake in the Northeast a couple of weeks ago. I thought nothing of it until I went into the spare bedroom on Monday and found that this Exakta had burst up through a crack in one of the tectonic plates. I was thinking about offering it on APUG but was not sure of interest, or value for that matter. Any input on either topic would be welcome. The camera and lens (Zeiss Pancolar) are really like new in the box. (Not that I would ever use this gem, but the Pancolar on my other user Exakta is really crisp.) Cosmetics are flawless. Glass is perfect. Includes original cap, box, cable release, instructions and case. So let me know if any APUGers cotton to this type of beastie. And most importantly, enjoy!!

Wow. I love Exaktas. That's a good looking one for sure. Mark me down as having interest in it!

If that's what pops out of the earth bring on the big one. Seriously though, that brings back memories of my first full-frame SLR, an Exakta Varex IIb which looked very similar to this one and had the same lens. I bought it with my paper round earnings when I was still at school but when I started full-time work in 1968 I had more disposable income and I traded it on a Minolta SRT-101 which I still have, along with about sixty other cameras. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I wish I still had the Exakta, although the Minolta and subsequent other brands have all served me well. I do still have a couple of lenses from the Exakta days - a Meyer Lydith 3.5/30 and a Meyer Tele-Megor 5.5/400.

Does a price of $180 sound correct? That number was suggested by a collector.

Thanks,
Jon
