I have a few Exakta lenses that I have been using on a Canon FD body with a Canon adapter, or on a Konica body with a Konica adapter. I recently picked up a Canon EF-M film body, which is (so I read) essentially a Canon Rebel film body stripped of autofocus function, manual operation only, EF/EOS lens mount. This camera was not produced for very long, and info on it is sparse -- google searches on "Canon EF" or "Canon EF-M" inevitably come up with links to digital cameras or, occasionally, the Canon EF body with FD mount.
To get to the point -- the fact that the EF-M body has an EOS mount opens the door to using third-party lenses via the many EF/EOS adapters available. I see many Exakta-EOS adapters available -- the ones that do not have a lens elements to achieve infinity focus. My sole concern is that my preliminary holding the Exakta lens up to the camera body indicates that the lens will be hit by the upswing on the mirror -- something I'd like to avoid, obviously.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has successfully used an Exakta lens on an EOS film body, without mirror mishap, and if so, what adapter they used. I'm aware of the "bump" issue some Exakta lenses with "arm" have; my Schneider Xenon lens doesn't have a bump. Thanks!
