I've never found them to be very accurate -- its the perfect time to get a nice handheld meterI just have a regular prism on mine. Given the age of most of the ETRS gear, the meter could be faulty. You can always get another one dirt cheap.
How many have you tried? did they all act in a similar manner?
I've owned two. Could be because of their age, and I've never found any (including my regular prism) to sit very tight on the bodies, so it could have been a contact issue. Anyhow, I generally always use a handheld with MF anyways so I didn't bother trying out another one or an AEIII.
