Folks,

I bought a gallon pouch (yes, it seems that LPD is now a pouch rather than a can) of Ethol LPD a few weeks ago and just mixed it up. I'll be in the darkroom shortly after the new year, and since this is a rented darkroom I am not going to leave my trays out for hours upon end unless I'm working.

Can I put my used working solution in a liter bottle (assuming I mix up a liter of the working solution at a time) for my next session? Or is it like Dektol in that once the stock solution is diluted, the working solution expires relatively quickly?

Thanks!

I won't say how long you can keep working solutions in a bottle, but I have kept LPD in a tray, with a piece of saran wrap floating on top of it, for several days with no problem. LPD is pretty tough stuff to begin with, which certainly helps for keeping activity.

It keeps virtually indefinitely in a bottle. Mine sometimes sits for a month or more between printing sessions and picks up right where it left off.
You can also replenish. Great stuff!

I did this a few years ago with LPD. Would print for 4 hours or so, pour into brown glass jugs, come back another day and pour back into trays. Lasted for weeks.

With little replenishment, it can last for years. It turns dark yellow pretty quick but this is the only change I noticed.
