A 1 gal. mix of LPD powder is now $46.99 on Freestyle, but B&H Photo still has it for $21.95.

I don't know why the difference, but IF that is what it will be everywhere soon, you might want to grab a gallon or two before it's gone at that price.

I have the OG made in Chicago ethol LPD and UFG canned. It's part of my theory TWTSHTF everyone will have tons of stockpiled toilet paper and tins of corned beef hash, but I will be the only one holding developer 🤣 👍

Looking at the Waybackmachine, looks like FS bumped up the price early last year, Jan 18th '24 it was $26.99 and then March 1st '24 it's $46.99

Not to worry my friends we were promised the price of eggs would come down and when the price of eggs comes down so too will the price of LPD. All kidding aside, you had better brace for the price of everything to go through the roof. I'm going to start stockpiling 120 B&W film, paper and some 4X5 B&W also. I have enough chemicals for fixer and developer for the rest of my life, but not film or paper. Likewise, I understand that some retailers have to raise prices when their supplier socks it to them, but what I hate is for some retailers and companies just jumping on the price raising bandwagon even when they don't really have a price increase themselves. Like I said, brace yourself and get ready cuz it won't be a fun ride.

The price of Ethol LPD at Freestyle has been out of whack for a long time, it's not a recent phenomena. I've never asked Freestyle what is going on there, I just buy at either B&H or Adorama.

prices for analog prints will be going up soon too.

The price of enlarging paper dictated a necessity to raise prices several years ago. In Western Canada you don't see 16x20 or 20x24" paper in stock on shelves anywhere...

The price at Adorama is quite reasonable, only $3 more than I last paid at Freestyle almost exactly 5 years ago. I’m going to get some. I only have 8 ounces left from that gallon - and it’s still good! LPD is fantastic stuff and suits my sporadic printing habits.

Whoa, are we looking at a little price gouge here! Freestyle must have a very good or interesting explanation I assume.
That said, LPD id one of the best, if not the best, bought paper developer I have ever used.

There are an infinite variety of ways that end up with one retailer having to pay more for a product than another.
And considering that Freestyle does more business as a distributor than it does as a retailer, it might just be a sign of the LPD distributor wanting to "stick it" to their competitor!

That could very well be it, Matt. Ah, those nasty old cutthroat business people.

I assumed Freestyle saw others running out of stock and realizing they had a bit left jacked up the price for those who really wanted it. If this is correct it’s possible Freestyle doesn’t realize it’s back in stock at normal prices elsewhere.

I pinged Freestyle today about their high price of Ethol LPD and they said to email info [at] freestylephoto.com and request a price match. Whoever I spoke to seemed unaware of the large price differential. Pretty sure they'll match the price, although I didn't request it since I recently ordered some from B&H.

Ahem. I have stocks of old Acufine, Diafine, LPD, etc. all in metal cans and stock sundries in glass jars. I'm good, too. I am looking for more ACU-1.
