Back in the 60's, my favorite developer was Ethol Blue, which my local camera shop carried. It seemed to work good, reasonable priced, and different than Kodak, which my Dad used everything of.
It doesn't seem to be around anymore. Anybody remember?
I remember it, although I never used it. It was one of a pair of developers from Ethol = Red and Blue - designed for the then new thin emulsion films like Adox KB-14. They were sold as one-shots in small bottles, three to a pack, as I recall. Ethol Blue was rumored to be similar to the Beutler developer.
I used the stuff back in the early 70's. I believe it came in a regular bottles not the small bottle sets like the old Edwal? X-22. Here's what they say about it in an old brochure from Porter's Camera Store: " This liquid concentrate is good for general use at high effective film speed. It produces negatives with a maximum amount of shadow detail, high accutance and medium fine grain. Ethol Blue is usually diluted 1:30 for use, but can be diluted up to 1:120 for special applications. It's an active developer, with short development times. Since Ethol Blue is diluted directly from the bottle, it is a good developer for the photographer who occasionally wants to push-process a roll of film." Guess I tried it with Tri-x to increase film speed. Must not have liked the grain.
