I'm not sure if this link was posted around here, but just came across it and as everything Mr. Puts published, it's a treasure trove, and not only on Leica stuff.

Very nice, thanks. I find Puts still the most reliable tester, his judgements of Leica lenses were always in line with how I have experienced them.

I had one of Mr. Puts' books years ago. Did he have a big fight with Leica a few years before his death? I don't remember details.

I do know that he felt that Leica's more recent digital cameras (at least as far back as the M10) betrayed the Leica tradition. He may (I can't remember) have also believed that the more recent "modern" M lenses also betrayed the Leica aesthetic.

There is such a high premium on Leica glass that knowing exactly what version of a lens one is considering buying (by its serial numbers) makes his work absolutely invaluable.

He is missed by many.

Just had a read through a few posts. Some gems in there, such as

‘So if you want to go small and slow then the film version is interesting.’

From his last post on 47Mp or 24Mp with a diversion into ‘old/film’ lenses not performing on digital and ever increasing size of digital lenses.

Thanks
