First, I ask for your patience in this matter - I have gone through the forum to search for an answer to my question, and yet I am still stumped, so....

I have an Epson V750 scanner which I bought specifically for scanning home-processed 120 format B&W negs. I've done plenty of research on the subject of setting parameters for best scan results, etc. (There is conflicting information out there, surprise, surprise) Here on DPUG I have seen references to adjustments one can make to the film holder Epson supplies with the scanner, and yet I see no part of the film holder (120 strip holder) that permits height adjustments. I get the distinct impression that I am getting "soft" scans from my negs because the film plane is NOT sitting at the optimal height in the scanner. I don't know how to proceed. I feel as if I'm working with a piece of hardware that doesn't resemble what I hear people discussing. (Mine looks exactly like this:
)

I know I can buy a replacement holder from betterscanning, but until I do, I'd like to see if I can find a way to optimize the results I am getting with the default film holder.

Thanks for any tips you may have for me. Much appreciated.
Paul
