Measured height of Epson V700/V750 film holders
So, since no one seemed to have any first-hand experience with this, I decided to do some testing myself. Having 2 each of 35mm and 120 film holders, purchased about 4 years apart, I thought this might be useful to some people.
All holders had their height adjusters set to the "+" setting. I measured the height of the film rail at each position there was an adjuster (9 places for the 120 and 5 for the 35mm.)
[table="width: 500"]
Height (mm) |

120 #1 (9 places) |
3.38mm |
3.32mm |
3.44mm |
120 #2 (9 places) |

3.28mm |
3.43mm |

So there is good consistency among the film holders. It is probably safe to set all film holders the same way after determining the optimum height. But, it is probably not a good idea to use the slide tray to do the initial testing. It assumes the use of a 1.6mm thick mount (half-mount thickness=0.8mm + 2.57 = 3.37mm height), whereas most typical machine-mount slides are 1.3mm thick. At this point, I don't know if this is a critical issue or not, I plan to do some testing to see how big the "sweet spot" of focus is on my copy of the scanner.
Hope this info is useful to someone.
