Is anyone using the V550 and what results are you getting. Also if using it with the Epson software or VueScan, what results. I would be using for 35mm and 120 medium format. I also have an older Minolta Scan Dual IV that I might use for 35mm, but the VueScan would work for both. I also have Photoshop CC and Lightroom for after processing. I would be doing B&W and color negatives and slides. Also would scan old pics that I don't have negs or slides. Not sure what the V600 has over the V550 or if it would worth the extra money.

Not got the V550, only have the older 4490, I would recommend Vuescan over Epson Scan, and I would also recomend only using it for 120 size film, your minolta scanner will produce far superior results with 35mm.
I was looking at the Epson V600 and the Canoscan 9000 II they seem to be similar, and I am not sure if either one has advantages over the other. The Canoscan 9000 II is a little cheaper. The V550 is still listed at B&H but out of stock. Wonder if the V550 is being replaced by the V600 as they have similar specs.
The V550 is a newer model than the V600 but I don;t know if it's better since the V600 costs more. Why don't you call Epson directly and ask them about the differences? I know the V600 allows me to scan three 6x7's while the V500 (not sure about the v550) only allows one or two.
