hi guys,

i must call upon your collected wisdom once again. my epson v500 has suddenly started dying. when i plug it in it fires up for about 3 seconds then goes dead. sometimes it last for a few minutes and then just cuts out. has anyone else had this problem at all? im not sure if it is the scanner itself or the power supply unit. i dont want to for out the £30 for a new psu if it isnt going to sort it.

What color is the power light and what is the sequence of light flashes that it gives off?

Doug

It comees on green as normal and then just cuts out. No flashing of any colours

What troubleshooting suggestions did Epson support give you/walk you through when you called them?

Doug

I emailed tech support and when they eventually got back to me they told me "there might be something wrong with the power supply or the scanner" helpful, no?

I would call them. You usually get better help because they cannot just blow you off with a lame-axxxed email. Be insistent that they really help troubleshoot things. Ask to be transferred to level 2 support because level 1 support people can't find their way out of a paper bag.

Doug

Smashing-ill give them a call. Thanks for the suggestion. s
