Does anyone have experience scanning medium format film with an epson v500 photo? im having troubles getting it to read the film properly. it cuts the photos in half, so there is two photos from one negative. it also leaves a good sized chunk from the center of the image out. I am using mac osx 10.5 and shooting 6x7cm 120 film

I think the fact your scans worked after flipping is more of a coincidence than anything. Autocropping is known to often miscrop things. Setting up a manual batch scan is usually faster because you know for sure you obtained all of the image every time. Here are some hints I put up in regard to manual batch scans:

My V500 never crops correctly. I always have to do it by hand.
