Epson V4490 scanner

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the Epson V4490 scanner is good? It will be my first flat bed scanner that I will be using in conjunction with a laptop running Windows 7.

My main issue is if it works well, and second, if the tray for the 35mm and MF transperencies/negatives is actually going to work well. The reason for this is I heard that the Epson V300 does not handle 35mm negatives well.

Feel free to also includ eother important information, of course.

I use it and I am happy with it for what I do. I scan for posting problems on this website, posting photos on websites, and to get cheap prints at Costco for sized upto 12"x18" when the final quality will be good enough for the needed purpose.

Haven't used that model .. but we deploy a lot of V700's around work (art/architecture school) and they do nice as both flatbed and for film. Granted, they are more expensive than the 4490

My main issue is wondering if it will process and handle 35mm negatives well, and the MF negatives. That's mainly the reason why I jumped up from the V300.

Any feedback on this?

I decided to go ahead and get the best scanner I can afford in a week's time, and it seems like the Epson flatbeds are perfect for my needs.

Has anyone had any mechanical issues?

I did not mention that I use the 4490 Photo Scanner on 135 and 120 film.

Alright, thank you Steve. The question is not only aimed at you, but anyone who might be able to comment.

Just to clarify that, since I did not make it all that clear in the first place.
