Can anyone tell me definitely whether or not I can get away with buying an Epson R1800 or R1900, and still create gallery quality, archival prints on high quality paper, or do I HAVE to get an R2400?
I will be doing 99% Mono printing (with some toning), but plan to use carbon inksets, so does that mean I can get one of the cheaper printers?
Let me knwo your thoughts, as I can't seem to find a definite answer to this in any google searches.
If you are not using the Epson inks, then by all means go for it. That said, the 1800 can have issues feeding really heavy papers, where the 2400 has a straight paper path and can feed papers up to about 1mm thick (or maybe 2mm I can't remember).

The R1900 is still so new too that there are no CISS solutions and no 3rd party carbon inksets out either... but if they have fixed the media transport issues, it'd make it excellent value.
