Epson 4990

Hello fellow photographers,
I have a problem; After a few months of normal use, my Epson 4990 stopped working today. The transparency unit lights up for a second while powering on and then turns black, making me unable to scan any film. Do you have some advice or a solution for me?

Please give us more information about exactly what it does and doesn't do when responding to a power up. Does it scan reflective items just fine? Are you getting flashing sequences from the power indicator light? You have the insert removed from the lid and have checked the transportation locks? We need more information.
