Can anyone who has one check something for me? When you do a preview does it show very very dark and do you have to use the margue to see the image normally? Also are you able to select film size under configuration? I have done everything including deleting my temp folder as per Epson tech support instructions.
Thanks in advance

We need more information, maybe what is requested above, and the steps you take to get this far. Are you marqueing the frame completely inside of the borders (or film rebate?)
Can you adjust the curve control to change the image?

I scanned using a free vuescan and the preview images appear normal so it definitely has something to do with the Epson software. When I owned a Epson V550 it had the option under configuration to choose 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, but with the 4990 there is no option. Can someone confirm that there is or is not a size selection?

Epsonscan allows copying the image crop you do for the first image so that you only have to lay the copies over the other images rather than drawing the crop for each one.

I assume your model is not a million miles from my Perfection 4490. I use the Epson software and if it doesn't detect the frame(s) presented to the scanner, the preview and resulting final scan can be very dark. If it's not able to automatically find the chosen negative I untick the thumbnail option and manually crop...and everything is fine.
