Epson 3000 and QTR for pt/pd negatives

Anybody using this combo yet? If so, any thoughts, problems? Got a starting profile you'd be willing to share? I have a workshop student who now has one and I've not worked with a 3000 before.

Hi Kerik,
Yes, me too. So far I have made negatives using a lossy photoshop method. I would like to use either QuadtoneRIP or PDN to make negatives for platinum prints.

Kerik, I bought an R3000 to carry around to workshops. It is a great little printer - pretty much a 13" version of the 3880 with the added benefit of wireless connection ability. I carry a cheapie wireless router with me and all my students can connect to and use the printer.

Anyway, I am teaching a palladium workshop this weekend and using it. Here is the palladium profile I am using. I am using only black inks (photoblack, btw). I tweaked gamma and black boost so the correction curve is pretty modest. Prints palladium with no restrainer in my UV lightbox:

Is this the printer you used when Doug Taylor and I visited you for the Photo Polymer workshop?

Yep, that is the same printer. I used it last weekend for a pt/pd workshop at Bookworks and this profile worked really well. A few people had some pretty high-key images and it handled them nicely.

Interesting. Do you mean that all inks in the R3000 was changed to the Epson black ptoto ink?
