Quadtone RIP and the epson 1430 printer

Is there a Quadtone for dummies out there some where? Because while I am not exactly stupid I must be missing something. When I try to use the system with just the native inks supplied by Epson none of the curves seem relevant and the image color is no where what I would call neutral and no way to change it.

You can always select "grayscale" in the Epson driver and only the black channel will be used to print. The images will look a bit grainy. There may be QT profiles that will approach neutral, but if you want real b&w, you will need to replace the Epson Claria (dye) ink with a monochrome pigment inks. The 14xx makes a fine dedicated monochrome printer. If you want color and reasonable monochrome from a single printer and inkset, Epson printers that support ABW (Advanced B&W) can do this.
