Epson 1430 star wheels

I was looking into using the PizeoPN inks with a 1430 printer but have been told that the 1430 suffers badly from star wheel marks when using glossy papers or film as needed for making digital negative. Anybody know hold to remove the star wheels from a 1430??

Some of the high end Epson printers (like the one used by the GEM for digital negative classes) let you manually lift the bar containing the wheels out of the way just before printing starts. I don't know if this approach will work with the 1430.

Not good news: I just found this on an Epson page http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/...d=63092519&foid=207818&cat=30937&subcat=30938 that says the 1430 can't be used for ink jet transpatrencies

Not really true, I have no issue using Fixxon film and the standard inks. I just if I move to using PiezoPN ink system the trouble will arise.
