Has anyone tried the EC-S screen in an EOS 3, and if so did it impact evaluative metering?
Has anyone used Angle Finder C in the 2x mode with an EC-S screen?
What are my other options? Thanks.
(All lenses are f2 or brighter ex. the 17-40 f4.)

I really like the Ec-S screen. I've used an Ec-S screen on the 3, 1V and 1N and never noticed any metering issues. It is a bit darker than the stock screen (the price to pay for the accuracy) but you get to see DOF to f/1.8 vs f/2.8 which is the stock screen. I never had lenses slower than f/2.8 so can't really say about how the 17-40 will be.

I have the EC-s in a 1V and also a 17-40. It affects metering by about 2/3 a stop, I usually just dial in a little exposure compensation to adjust, but with neg film, it's mostly a non-issue anyway. It works fine with the 17-40L.

Which angle finder?

I have used the Olympus Varimagni Finder - shown here mounted on the EOS1V.

It is very versatile as it will mount on a lot of other cameras, can swivel around, and it has a control to switch from 1.2X to 2.5X. In 2.5X mode you only see the central area magnified. It will darken the view and is best used on a tripod

Thanks, Les -- I didn't realize I had options beyond Canon Angle Finder C and options are good when shopping used.
