I've recently bought a used Ensign Selfix 820 with the epsilon shutter and Ross Xpres 3.8 lens but I'm having an issue with the film winding. The camera has a double exposure prevention system that means that can't use the shutter release unless you have both wound on the film and cocked the shutter.
The issue for me is that the winding knob only turns a small amount before locking up, and the shutter has the he fired before it can move again. I figured this was the double exposure system at work but the issue persists when loading film too - the manual directs you to wind the film knob a few times (with the bellows collapsed) to wind on the film, but as the knob won't continuously turn without the shutter being fired I can't load the film without opening the bellows and firing the shutter and rinse and repeating.
I'm pretty sure this is not the way the camera is intended to work, as it has both a 6x6 and 6x9 mode via a mask so it wouldn't make sense for the winding knob to turn a fixed amount as you'd need more or less winding depending on the format you wanted.
Any ideas on what could be up with the camera? I bought it as working off of eBay from a reputable seller, gonna see if I can work out what the issue is or try for a refund if it's broken.
