Manual says Af-on button works like half pressed release button if set to do this, how does it work in Af-c mode, I cannot get it to work.

thanks for the answer,
it just doesn`t seem to work in AF-C, in AF-S the Af-on button just works fine,
is there something I could have set wrong in another point, cam is D810.
Thanks&KindRegards

hmm...don't know then. On my d7100 (which is about the same vintage as the D810, I think, so probably similar guts) I just set it to AF-C and the AF-ON button becomes active continuously as long as I hold it down. May be the D810 has a glitch or a bug or may be the lens doesn't want to cooperate. Have you tried different lenses?

Niranjan, thanks for ongoing interest, I think it´s not the cam nor the lense, but me. I use the cam for some years now and don`t remember all the things I have set, I just use the center AF sensor,

You are quite welcome. I know exactly what you mean. If I haven't used my camera for months, I forget how to turn it on even...🙂 Too many knobs and options in DSLRs. When I first bought the camera, I made 2 custom settings - one for hand held and the other for tripod work. That's all I use - anything different and I would have to consult the manual again.

Good luck!

Thank you again, your "Good luck!" worked^^
in a lucidum intervallum I remembered this AF-MF button and back wheel thing to set AF-s and AF-c, before I just turned the mode dial.

BTW: I found the older system much better where you set AF-s, AF-c and M on one button.

Thanks&KindRegards
