Enlarging Meter

I just clicked on the banner for Darkroom Automation and saw the enlarging meter and foot switch both of which seem very reasonably priced. Is anyone here using the meter. It can be used as a densitometer, so for the price that's got to be a deal.

I've a mind to buy that meter. As a projection densitometer
it will pinpoint very small areas of the negative. I now use an
Ilford EM-10 which I've calibrated against a 21 step stepwedge.
The EM-10 though is not linear and so not very accurate.
Pinpointing my Tobias over arm densitometer is near
impossible. Dan

RH Designs and NO Lindan's creations have always tempted me. I loath doing a test strip to just get me close for the next strip to be useful when I have not been printing B&W for a while.

Then a mid 60's Melico landed in my hands as a part of a lot of gear I bought up. I can use it to figure out the starting time for most negs to get me close, and also can guide me as to the contrast range of the neg, and the amount of dodging and burning that it will likely need.

Hopefully the vaccuum tubes won't die too soon, as I am really liking the way the thing operates. Oh, and balancing the magic eye tube makes me feel like I am running with one of the early Daleks in Dr. Who.

I have both Nick's enlarging timer (when my GraLab died) and the enlarging meter. Both are outstanding and well worth the price. I used to use a table to convert from f-stops to seconds, now I don't need to do this.

Both are recommended without reservation.

I have 2 Ilford meters. They are great. I use one for color and one for B&W. IDK for sure, but when I bought mine they were super inexpensive.
