Is there a way to make print sharper sagittal lines but make less contrast for tangential lines of a negative ?

I read couple of months ago about unsharp masking was possible at enlarging. I dont know how it is done and I want to know a possibility for a different mask for sagittal or tangential lines , is there such a thing invented ?

My mind can be false me , let me forget the terminology and invent to print more sharper lines , as lines speared from center like a rim of a wheel , not spokes.

Is there a way to extract these lines of photograph with analog technology ?

Thank you ,

Umut
