A while ago I was gifted a Beseler 45V-XL with the focusing motor (but not the elevation control motor). There was no controller with the enlarger for the focus and/or elevation controls, so I just used it happily in full manual. I shopped around for a controller (damn those things are pricey and scarce!), and finally found one. Having connected it, I was able to test the focus control motor (if it worked, it would be very handy for focusing at any larger size enlargements, because the column on a 45V-XL is quite tall). The focus motor runs, and you can tell from the sound that it reverses direction when reversed by the controller, but it is not in fact driving the focusing stage on the head. Does anyone here have any experience with servicing such things? How difficult will it be to get in there and diagnose and repair?
