I really think something like this is what the kickstarter video and page ought to have been. The idea of an open source current production medium format camera seems perfect for the current camera production atmosphere and I'd very much like to see their project succeed. That's why I've started a new thread with a link to this informative interview; it probably belongs in the same Mercury thread but maybe more people will see it this way.

Thanks for the link. I understand why they limited format to 6x9cm but I'd be more interested if it was capable of 6x12cm. Of course, others will likely chime in stating they'd want 6x17cm or 4x5".

Um, Mike they claim there's a 4x5 extension that goes between the body module and a 4x5 back. And they show a picture of a body and a lens module with a 4x5 extension. Truncated pyramid, not surprising. So 6x12 will work. 6x17 would need a 5x7 extension.

Yep, Dan is correct: we have a medium format Graflok 23 camera back and a large format Graflok 45 back. The latter can indeed take a 6x12 roll film back. If the project is successful, we do indeed also plan to do a 5x7 back, so 6x17 will be possible eventually! But good lord, surely most will be satisfied with 6x12!
