Pure experience (50 yrs worth), including a BA in Art History. It is! all about taste!
Taste to judge their young works, taste to call them as emerging, taste to appoint those expert tasters (who must judge & call), taste to taste the taste of the tasters ... !!! ???
In my humble case, I would like to know whether this comment of yours is as it reflects or it really has justified reasons behind (I'm not talking about any work to compare with) ... and if so, I'd like to read it, even if what you have to say it is not my cup of tea!
Michael that sounds like in the next breath you might easily sayKeep on trolling. Your posts are mildly amusing to me.

I am all for more people shooting film. I encourage it. However, if photograhers publish their images, they are fair game for critique. Presumably, since we only see one image from each of these photographers, they selected it because the felt it was among their best. Just because you are using film doesn't insulate you from comment.
Awesome article! Thanks for sharing. So many using colour film too. Exciting! Wonder if any are members here?

i've always been under the impression that an open mind is a good thing, even if the "artwork" looked at isn't one's cup of tea
ART is NOT RATIONAL--it's MYSTICAL. How can I come up w/"Reasons" for what I judge?
