Would someone tell me how EL-OMEGAR f/3.5 75mm stack up against other lens such as Nikon versions? I hear some bad stories about 4.0 or smaller F stop versions but I don't see any discussions on f/3.5 and at this focal length.

Thank you.

Omega and besslar lenses are always going to be inferior to nikkor or rodenstock lenses. They usually are sold as part of a kit with an enlarger. I used a omega lens with my old enlarger. I could see a difference in sharpness after going to a rodenstock, even with my diminished vision.

It is not the F opening, but is the degree to which the lens is corrected.

Normally only well corrected lenses are 2.8 so that is a by product. An exception is Leica F 4.5 Focotars, exceot for the first version.

El Omegars are not great lenses and will probably only make smaller prints well.
