ektapan alternative

Is it true that ektapan was extra sensitive to short bursts of strong light (strobe/flash)? I heard amazing platinum/palladium prints can be made with ektapan using extremly long development times.... but kodak doesn't make it anymore. Is there an alternative film that creates the depth of ektapan on platinum? thanks!

I shoot Ektapan (about a box and a half left of 8x10") and do tend to use it with strobes. I don't think Ektapan is unusual in this regard, but film that's particularly designed for use with strobes isn't more sensitive to short bursts of light, but has more reciprocity problems with exposures longer than, say, 1/30 sec. Some Polaroid films are like this, and the old Vericolor III S color neg film was designed this way.

Ektapan can build a lot of density, which would be good for platinum. Nothing quite has that look, but you might try Efke PL 100 to get in the vicinity.
