Warm tone FB paper, made with several different surfaces, K,G,L which was opal, and X a very heavy textured surface. Not sure when Ektalure was discontinued, sometime in the 70 when price for color prints came down?

I have a roll of Ektalure 164 133 X double weight 40 " x 30 ft exp 1987 for sale.
What interest or opinion.

Ektalure G, in Selectol-Soft 1;2 for 2 min, 15 sec in Dektol 1:1 for the blacks, then toned in Kodak Brown Toner.

No SS around here, how about Ilford Bromophen?
Any tips to handling such large paper?
Is the Ilford or Paterson safe light OK? or should I use Kodak OC ?

Selector-Soft or equivalent can be mixed from scratch; Bromophen would also be a fine choice. The Dektol 2nd bath is to punch up the blacks. I'd be concerned with Fog but those older papers seem to be able keep better, it must be that Cadmium that Kodak had to take out for environmental concerns. If anything you should keep some restrainer Potassium Bromide to add for fog and probably double the expected exposure.
This paper was a standard use for portrait labs just before I got really deep into weddings, and I was lucky to use a bit of it before it completely evaporated. Good luck with printing, and I hope you take the extra step to tone the print.

I expect that the demise of Ektalure had as much to do with the changes in the market for portraiture as the need to re-formulate to deal with environmental requirements.
Old style portraits on double weight, multi-surface fixed contrast black and white paper were no longer anywhere near the "norm".

Thanks; I may sell the paper to someone who can make better use of it or trade it for some Ilford Gallerie. in 16 x 20

Mmmm I would personally rather print this paper; the fact that you have it in hand is one thing, Ektalure G was a truly great paper that was not very well known outside of its intended use/market, and not much survived, I think I could only find NOS by about 1994-5 (possibly discontinued around the time of Panatomic-X getting pulled and right as Tmax introduced 1987-89).
It also has a unique surface texture (G) to the print, and most people have not seen this surface.
Besides, Ilford Galerie would hardly be considered Ektalure G equal; AGFA Portriga would be the equivalent (and possibly its superior) but again, it will be very hard to find that paper.

I think the roll of paper is Ektalure X, not G.

indeed it is Kodak Ektalure Xd .
Cat 164-1133.
The box has been opened .
It still is quite heavy, I doubt much has been used, I will weigh it.
How do you suggest I verify the quality of the paper?

@RidingWaves Ektalure lasted until the end of the 1990s. It liths rather well (more likely because of single emulsion, relatively minimal addenda vs those added for multigrade to work etc, rather than mythologised heavy metal salts - though Pb salts may well have been used in Ektalure).

No Ilford paper comes close to Ektalure.
You test it by exposing it using a normal-contrast negative. You also test it by developing an unexposed strip. You also fix an undeveloped strip to use for comparison. You look for fog and proper contrast. That's about it.

OK, I have a partially used roll that weighs 2582 grams or 5 lbs 11oz.

I am guessing not much has been used.

I may try a 40" cut off and see what happens.
If I wish to sell is it OK to post my email on this website?

G surface = Wonderful

X surface = Really, really must be at least 6 feet away to appreciate.

Obviously this huge paper was for murals.

I loved Ektalure. Only 1 contrast grade, worked great. Se toner gave cool brown color.
