Ektachrome in 120, on the Way

I'll definitely be getting a 120 roll when it's released- I quite enjoyed my 35mm results and Ektachrome may be my favorite color film so far. As for sheets- I may wait until I use up my 100 pack of delta 100 4x5 before I try it.

Great news.

Don't think I'll be buying any but it's great to hear that they're moving along.

P3200 in 120 however. That's useful. I don't like the look of these very fast films in 35, but they look great in 120.

KA may be appropriately gun-shy about promising dates due to the delays and backlash from the 35mm Ektachrome launch. Can't say that I blame them. You don't gain much by hitting the deadline, but you piss off those easily angered by missing them. At any rate I'm very happy to hear this news and will blow the film budget when this product becomes available.

A could sent you a brand New Rollei66 (in unused condition) see :

The carrying case is one oft the best features i've ever seen. Beside the "66" and oft course the
150 lens.....but you need a more distance with projection. Not so good for smaler apartements.

I take it we can rely that these are the equivalent of verbatim "quotes" from Mr Mooney? I wonder why we seem to hear it first from Kosmo Foto and not from a KA source?

Not quite.
Kosmo Foto got his wisdom from a spoken statement by a KA representativ in a podcast.

5 days later this written statement was given by KA:

Kodak Alaris Ektachrome Update

We’re working on it!
You’ve made it clear that you want Ektachrome 100 in 120 format and sheets. It is our intention to deliver on this request as quickly as we can – in 2019. Development efforts continue. Additional work is required to resurrect both 120 and sheet formats due to the unique nature of each film support. As these efforts are ongoing, we cannot commit to an official date for release at this time.

We take pride in providing the canvas for photographers to take powerful images – using the most comprehensive and technically superior professional film portfolio available today. We are excited to support the growing number of film enthusiasts with our expanding offering of films.

We share in your excitement and anticipation of additional new offerings and will provide updates as efforts proceed. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

The written statement AgX refers to is consistent with what I've heard.
There are a lot of differences that flow from the different supports, as well of the different anti-halation requirements.

All donations gratefully accepted.

Thanks AgX and Matt. Good to know there is substance to the report. I always worry about any announcement that cannot be tracked back to an official source these days when "you heard it here first" always takes precedence over "you heard the truth here first".

It can so easily lead to "Fake News" I am sure I have heard that expression used by someone else but cannot think who it might been.

Sal is usually good on such matters. He may know who started the use of the phrase.

I have a handful of e-6 120 rolls in my freezer that I've not shot because I'm lazy and I don't have a way of projecting...

If you stop worrying about projecting you'll only have to conquer laziness.

Someone gave me a Kindermann projector. I am blown away by how great 6x6 slides look. I'm going to be shooting some 6x17 Fujichrome in my old G617 ,just because it's so cool.

Maybe this summer I'll go for it.

Now, now, there's no good reason to drive this thread into the Soap Box.

That is a real good intention.
So what - about Ektrachrome ? There is a plan to bring back sheet films. The 4 x 5 format is for sure.
The 8 x 10 format is planned but the question is from demand.
The possible 5 x 7 format is not in plan - but this may change.

So if there is a real demand on 8 x 10 ( nowbody knows at this time ) there may be a door wich can be opend to proceed with 5 x 7 - what is a real nice format from my point.
The aceptance on Ektachrome 8 x 10 is dependable from the pricing........?

If you are looking to Fuji E6 one may come to the conclusion that 8x10 is out oft interist for most
photographers. A lot of them who used color film in higher formats proceed meanwhile with bw.
What is definitifly caused from high pricing because the interest to color film special to E6 is still there what we can see with the extraordinary demand on Ektachrome 35mm since last year!
But there will be an official statement on this issue within this year (for some oft your guys who
just still belive on the bringing back of Ektachrome 100 in 120, 4x5 inch, [ 8x10 inch ?] at that point
when they will hold this formats in their own hands.

Kodak professional just posted on Twitter that a trial 120 coating is planned for late July.

And there is even a bit more information by them given on their instagram account:

Best regards,

I will use it for sure, been using Provia but a similar alternative with slightly lower contrast and better shadow definition is a big thing for me, a long overdue option in the market place.

I bought a small lightbox to show my 6x9 slides. Stored in baseball card sleeves they can be passed around. Always positive comments. I'm defo going to shoot a roll or 5 with my Medalist when it's available.

The fact that this was supposed to come in April but still isn't out makes me very pessimistic about ever getting it in sheet sizes

The information that I have received from a reliable source is that you need just a very little bit more patience before both 120 and sheet sizes are available.
