Ok Im curious does anyone know how kodak monitored EIR or HIE and other infra red films for defects in the emulsion? they couldn't have used infra red light and sensors to map the surface, did they use magnetic field imaging? or sound?

Their sensitivity ends at 900nm. Use light of higher wavelength and an electronic sensor.

Some IR films have a "hole" in sensitivity around 550 nanometers (greenish) and so a green safelight can be used for some B&W films.
