The author is reaching here, with claims that The Outlands has inspired a generation of photographers, especially considering Zwirner‘s claims that most of the images have never been seen publicly.

Anyway the scans of his slides look incredible from here, and I’d like to see the Zwirner show.

From what I understand, many of these specific images haven't been seen, but they are from the same project from which the images that were featured in the MoMA 1976 show were taken.

From the press release: "Taken between 1970 and 1973, the images in The Outlands come from the same expansive photographic project from which Eggleston and the famed photography curator John Szarkowski selected the images for the artist’s groundbreaking 1976 exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, as well as the related and widely celebrated publication William Eggleston’s Guide."

That's probably what the author meant when talking about inspiring other photographers.

These are spectacular. I'd also love to see the Zwirmer show, but now way I can go the NYC before it closes.

It's The Guardian, they are what they are :<)
