Over the past few weeks I've been experimenting with coffee and soda to develop my B&W negs. Caffenol is easy to brew and the results are really dang good.
On my blog I posted several photos. Some were taken with Efke KB100, others with Lucky SHD400. All were dunked in caffenol. I now have ten rolls of Lucky SHD100, which I plan to use (not all of them!) next Wednesday: Spring equinox.
I hope these posts will inspire a few people to try out coffee and soda, and see for themselves how good this works. I also hope that those new to self developing B&W film will take heart from my (and my 9 year old daughter's) experiences.
i too love processing film in coffee.
i got turned onto it through a fellow apuger
whiteymorange. i use a little different formula that uses
vit. c as well ( i guess i should call it caffenol-c ). before using IT,
i was a non-staining developer person, but now .... i guess i can say
i kind of like the weird funky stain on my film.
thanks for posting the links!
I've looked the results with Efke 100 - great
But, I think you could try at a lower speed (like 64 or 50 asa) because dark areas are to black .
I've tested caffenol past year with FP4 -results were fine too .
Will be happy to read and look your other tests
Very interesting.
I looked at the formulas you linked to which give the units as "tsp". To me that means teaspoons, however in your article you refer to tablespoons. I would appreciate clarfication on the measuring units as I plan to try this sometime.
