Found this 35mm film in a shop in Hanoi today.
It's colour neg film, brand name efiniti & the 2 emulsions are called UXi super 100 & 200. One roll that I bought has an expiry date of Sept '09. The only other info is that it is made in Japan, so I'm assuming it's rebranded Fuji. Or perhaps some old Konica stock.

There is a very basic range of films available in Hanoi. Fuji Superia 100, 200 & 400. Kodak Colorplus which is a budget line. I've also come across some Wephota B&W 200 neg. I'm assuming it's rebranded Fomapan. I won't find out until I get back to Sydney anyway.

It was much the same in Kuala Lumpur except there they also had a lot of Konica colour neg, current dated. Interestingly it said it was made in the USA & finished in Mexico so probably someone doing a deal with Kodak.

As I've read here previously, there are camera shops around Hoan Kiem lake that have lots of nice looking Nikon F models & Leica SLRs & rangefinders. I haven't asked the prices as I'm already travelling with 6 cameras.

I've no idea if there are good pro labs or places to buy 120 film around here. It's only of academic interest to me anyway as I brought plenty of film with me & I'm planning to take it all back to Sydney for processing where I know how the system works.

humidity & film in Hanoi

It's summer in Hanoi & very hot & humid every day. I've been here 2 weeks.

I was going to load a roll of Kodachrome 64 today but I couldn't get the leader to come out of the canister - it was stuck. I pulled really hard & it came out slowly & there were some deep scratches for about 2cm.
Also the film was not smooth & flat but had little ridges perpendicular to the length. So I pulled the entire roll out to look at it & it had the ridges all the way along & also what looked like damp patches on the dark side & weird blotches on the emulsion side. I think this must be a result of the humidity & heat. I had been carrying that roll around loose for a few days. I spoke to a lady in a camera shop & she said humidity is a big problem here. They keep everything in dry cabinets - films, lenses, cameras etc.
